The fruit for this wine was sourced from our most recently planted fully certified organic vineyard opposite the winery. This Pinot Gris was harvested with an average harvest Brix of 24.4º to give the finished wine around 14% alcohol.
The grapes were crushed and destemmed followed by a short period of skin contact. A portion of the clear juice cool was fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit characters before being stopped to retain a dash of sweetness in the finished wine. Another portion was fermented in old oak barriques to give complexity and texture.
The wine was aged on light lees for several months after fermentation to enhance texture and weight, before finishing and bottling in September 2014.

Richly aromatic wine has fresh pear, peach and toffee apple aromas with sweet floral complexity. The palate is silky and balanced with just a hint of residual sweetness. Flavours of pear and delicate stonefruit abound with a seasoning of nutty lees. This is a textural wine that would be a very versatile match with food.
“The wine displays classic pinot gris silky mouthfeel and rounded palate, beautifully supported by fragrant aromas of pear, white peach and rockmelon. It’s dry yet sweetly flavoured and harmonious with a lingering finish. At its best: now into 2018. Certified organic.” 90/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2015.
