The fruit for this wine was sourced from our certified-organic estate vineyards in Brightwater (35% River Terrace and 65% Livingston Road). This Pinot Gris was harvested with an average Brix of 22.7º to give the finished wine around 12% alcohol. The grapes were crushed and destemmed followed by a short period of skin contact. A portion of the clear juice was cool fermented in stainless steel to retain primary fruit characters before being stopped to retain a dash of sweetness in the finished wine. Another portion was fermented in old oak barriques to give complexity and texture. The wine was aged on light lees for several months after fermentation to enhance texture and weight, before finishing and bottling in November 2013.

Richly aromatic wine has fresh pear, ripe citrus and toffee apple aromas with sweet floral complexity. The palate is soft and balanced with just a hint of residual sweetness. Flavours of pear and apple abound with a seasoning of nutty lees and spicy oak. This is a textural wine that would be a very versatile match with food.
“Off-dry organic Pinot Gris with an attractive mix of pear, apple and delicately nutty yeast lees characters. Quite a concentrated wine showing good purity and a reasonably silken texture.”
86/100, Bob Campbell Master of Wine, August 2014
“ Medium to full-bodied, it has fresh peach, pear and spice flavours, showing a touch of complexity. Good food wine.”
