2015 Kaimira Estate Brightwater Hui Katoa – CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND VEGAN FRIENDLY

This seductive and specially crafted wine is the white counterpart to our red blend – Hui Whero.

Winemaking Notes

Grown organically on our estate vineyards in Brightwater, four classic white grape varieties were hand harvested separately at optimum maturity – Pinot Blanc, Viognier, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Hand harvesting of the Viognier and Pinot Blanc grapes took place from early to mid April 2015. After gentle pressing and settling, the juice was fermented in seasoned oak. Lesser amounts of Riesling and Gewurztraminer were blended in prior to bottling to enhance aroma and structure.

We chose the name “Hui Katoa” (all together) for this special wine to reflect the judicious choosing and harmonious blend of its components.

Residual sugar  5.1 g/L   Titratable acidity 4.65 g/L   pH 3.3    Alcohol 13.6 %

Tasting notes

This a specially crafted wine, combining the best of its four component aromatic varieties. Lifted aromas of apricot, mandarin and floral notes fill the glass. The palate is opulent and juicy with a sliver of sweetness offering ripe stone fruit and citrus flavours on entry and backed by complexity from barrel aging. The mineral finish is finely balanced.

“A blended wine from 4 varieties. Aromas and flavours of citrus, spice, stone and tropical fruits. Apricots, apples, white peaches and some lemon suggestions, a hint of bacon barrel and wood spice. A slightly creamy texture with moderate acidity makes for a very easy drinking wine, medium acidity and harmonious finish. Drink now and through 2020.
